Track Out.

Some of what goes down around here during track out...

Shane's 'I Will Not...'

On Andrew's birthday, Shane woke up on the wrong side of the bed. He came downstairs cranky and didn't wish Andrew a happy birthday. I let it pass for a  few hours but his crankiness continued to escalate so I asked him to write, 'I will be happy for someone else on their birthday' ten times. I guess that was too long for him to write so he improvised and wrote everything else he wouldn't do when he gets upset: I will stay cool. I will not cry. I won't be bad. I won't scream. I won't hold glass (???!!!). I won't fight. I won't whine.

♥ Shane, you keep us on our toes buddy! ;) ♥

Back to School Activities.

Even though we started back to a new school year in July, all of our traditional activities will start this week or next. Travel soccer, rec soccer, Cub Scouts, Faith Formation, and Dance are all of the activities we're involved in.

Travel soccer is three nights a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays, with an occasional regional training thrown in there on a Friday night. Games are Saturdays or Sundays. Connor and Andrew have the same coach so their practices are at different times which makes it a little more challenging:) One of us is on the field either 5:30 - 7 pm or 7 - 8:30 pm. Travel soccer started at the beginning of August so we're used to this schedule by now.

Shane has practice on Thursdays and games on Saturdays. Sarah has practice and scrimmage on Saturdays. Keith coaches both Shane and Sarah and the U4's on Saturdays.

Cub Scouts is Tuesday nights. All three boys are cub scouts this year with Shane beginning his career as a Tiger. He's super excited. I'm the assistant leader for his Den. There is an overlap on times with soccer for Connor and Andrew so they need to have the responsibility to complete their achievements to receive their ranks. Keith is on the field this night with Connor for the early practice and we asked a friend in the neighborhood (who has a child on a different team but practices at the same time - Thank you Clarke's!) to get Andrew to and from the field so that I can take Shane and Sarah to Scouts.

Wednesday is Faith Formation, Shane's first year! I drop the boys off at 5 pm and head on over to the dance studio for Sarah's dance class at 5:30 pm. She started at a new Dance studio this year and loves it. Keith picks the boys up 'on his way home from work' (technically it's completely past our house and not on his way home at all!). We are all home by 6:45 pm this night. (Woohoo!)

Thursday nights are the usual practices for Connor and Andrew and an added practice for Shane on a different field. Sarah and I stay with Connor and Andrew until Keith is finished and he can come pick Sarah up to get her in bed at a reasonable hour.

If there are no extra practices Friday nights, we have family dinner. (Super important around here!)

Weekends are reserved for traveling wherever Connor and Andrew's games are. The fall season is heavy with a lot of travel within 2 hours of us. This means, Keith and I and the kids splitting up which makes those few-and-far-between family dinners even more important;)

Sarah will start preschool five days a week next week from 9 am to 1 pm. It's been a fun summer (she's become such an excellent swimmer from spending so much time at the pool!) with her but she is ready to see her friends again every day.  The boys have this week and next week off and then will track back in September 12th. What will I do with my half days with no one home? Work and blog. The afternoons will be saved for spending time with Sarah. This is her last year of preschool before I 'lose' her to the school system full time. I want to make it count;)
